Washington Mutual awards millions of dollars in cash grants each year to support K-12 education and financial education. View detailed information on how to apply for a grant, where we fund and an application checklist.

School Savings®
Started in 1923, the School Savings program gives students hands-on lessons about how to handle money responsibly using their own Washington Mutual savings accounts. Our Financial Centers work with elementary schools and parent volunteers to teach students positive savings habits through weekly Bank Days at school. Contact your local Washington Mutual Financial Center for more information.

WaMoola for L.I.F.E.™ (Lessons in Financial Education)
We offer lessons for every grade level and workshops—in Spanish and English—for adults. We bring the instructor, the lesson and enough materials for the whole group. Lessons are grade and age appropriate and designed to cover various financial topics in easy-to-understand terms. For class information, contact your local Washington Mutual Financial Center.

Our business lines, including WM Financial Services and Washington Mutual Card Services (formerly Providian Financial Corporation), also offer financial tools and education.

Additionally, our Planning Center on wamu.com offers self-guided lessons on topics such as Home Buying and Selling and Retirement and Estate Planning.

Homebuyer Education
Our free homebuyer workshops walk first-timers through the complete homebuying process. Topics covered include choosing a loan, working with brokers and lenders, home maintenance and how to manage mortgage payments. We also offer home improvement workshops to help existing homeowners understand the process of home improvement, which home improvements offer the most value and how to hire a contractor vs. doing it yourself. Workshops are also offered in Spanish. For class information, contact your local Washington Mutual Financial Center.

WaMoola for Schools®
The WaMoola for Schools®  program is a special program created to support K-12 schools.*

Here's how it works: Customers are given an opportunity to pick a school to support. Once they've enrolled, they earn a point for their designated school every time they use their Washington Mutual Debit MasterCard® for everyday purchases such as buying groceries, going to the movies or buying a cup of coffee. At the end of the year, Washington Mutual will convert the points into a donation.** Schools can use the money for whatever they need most, such as books, repairs, improvements or a special event. Washington Mutual imposes no spending guidelines or restrictions.

Enroll your Debit MasterCard® in the WaMoola for Schools program now!
