Kerry K. Killinger serves as chairman and chief executive officer of Seattle-based Washington Mutual, Inc. (NYSE: WM), a national financial services retailer, serving the needs of mass-market consumers, as well as small and medium-sized businesses.
Under his leadership, WaMu has grown into the nation's sixth largest financial services company with an employee base of over 50,000 people. In 2001, American Banker magazine named him its "Banker of the Year."
Killinger joined WaMu in 1982 through the acquisition of Murphey Favre, Inc., the Northwest's oldest securities brokerage firm, at which he served as executive vice president. Before that, he was an investment analyst with Banker's Life Insurance of Nebraska.
His leadership path at WaMu began as executive vice president and later senior vice president for financial management, research, investor relations and corporate marketing, where he helped return the company to profitability in a deregulated environment. He also served as a member of a three-person Office of the President, from which he became the company's president in 1988; chief executive officer in 1990; and finally chairman of the board of directors in 1991.
Beyond his day-to-day responsibilities, Killinger serves on the boards of the Financial Services Roundtable, the Washington Roundtable, Achieve, the Partnership for Learning, and the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce. He's also a director of Safeco Corporation.
Killinger earned bachelor's and Master of Business Administration degrees with honors from the University of Iowa.

Stephen J. Rotella President and Chief Operating Officer |

Stephen J. Rotella is president and chief operating officer of Washington Mutual, Inc. He is responsible for oversight of the retail banking, home loans, card services and commercial businesses as well as the company's technology group and day-to-day administration.
Prior to joining WaMu in 2005, Rotella was a member of the JP Morgan Chase executive committee and served as the chief executive officer, Chase Home Finance, and executive vice president, JP Morgan Chase. There, he led all residential lending, directly managing the prime, subprime and home-equity businesses. He also oversaw capital markets, portfolio management, marketing, credit, human resources, finance and legal activities of those businesses. In addition, he was responsible for JP Morgan Chase's Community Development Group. Previously, he was the chief operating officer, Chase Home Finance from 1998 to 2001.
Rotella has strong ties to the community and believes in giving back. He is on the boards of directors of The Seattle Foundation, ArtsFund and YouthCare, all in Seattle. He also is a member of the Financial Services Roundtable.
Rotella attended State University of New York in Stony Brook where in 1975 he received a bachelor's degree in economics. In 1978, he earned a Master of Business Administration in finance and information systems from the State University of New York in Albany.

Todd H. Baker Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Development |

Todd H. Baker is Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Development for Washington Mutual, Inc. He is responsible for managing corporate strategy and strategic planning, corporate development, equity investments and competitive research for the company. Mr. Baker became a member of the Executive Committee in 2007.
Prior to joining WaMu in December 2001, Baker was a partner with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP in San Francisco, representing financial services, technology, corporate and investment banking clients, including WaMu. He has over 20 years of corporate law experience, and served as the lead attorney in more than $40 billion in mergers, acquisitions and public and private financing.
Baker is a summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College and earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he was a member of the Stanford Law Review.

Alfred R. Brooks President, Commercial Group |

Alfred R. Brooks is president of the Commercial group for Washington Mutual, Inc. In this position, he oversees all of the commercial lending activities of the bank, including multi-family lending, commercial mortgage lending, commercial real estate lending and wholesale commercial lending.
Previously, he was Commercial group chief lending officer, and prior to that role, he was division executive of the company's multi-family lending business. The multi-family lending division provides financing for the purchase or refinancing of existing properties with five or more units in 15 major US markets. WaMu is the nation's top originator of multi-family loans.
Brooks joined WaMu in 1998 and was named to his current position in December 2005. With more than 20 years of banking experience, he previously held positions at Union Bank of California, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, California Federal Mortgage and Sanwa Bank California.
A graduate of California State University, Brooks earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting and a minor in finance. He also has completed further studies in appraisal at the University of California, Irvine.

Thomas W. Casey Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer |

Thomas W. Casey is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Washington Mutual, Inc. He oversees all aspects of WaMu's corporate finance, strategic planning and investor relations functions.
Prior to joining WaMu, Casey served as vice president at the General Electric Company and senior vice president and chief financial officer of GE Financial, now part of GE Insurance, a consumer and investment business with assets under management of $119 billion and 2001 revenues of $13 billion.
Casey began his career in 1984 at Coopers & Lybrand as an audit supervisor focusing on the financial services industry. He joined Citicorp in 1990 before moving to GE Capital Corp. in 1992, where he held advising, controllership and analyst positions prior to becoming senior vice president and chief financial officer of GE Financial.
Casey graduated from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

James B. Corcoran President, Retail Banking |

James B. Corcoran is president of Retail Banking for Washington Mutual, Inc. He is responsible for overseeing the retail banking store network, small business banking, consumer lending, WM Financial Services, and all retail products and banking operations.
Before joining WaMu, Corcoran was managing director of retail distribution at Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBoS). He was responsible for its branch retail system and all non-branch distribution channels, including customer call centers, e-commerce, and real estate brokerage and financial planning operations.
At HBoS, Corcoran oversaw a retail banking team of more than 30,000 employees and grew the company's card business from one to four million customers in three years.
Previously, Corcoran was president of the UK card business at Bank One/First USA and managing director of global sales at Citigroup, New York, where he was responsible for developing the bank's worldwide retail banking distribution network.
He also served as head of marketing for IBM's consumer business in New York and senior vice president of card marketing for the European operations of American Express.

Daryl D. David Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer |

Daryl D. David is executive vice president of Human Resources at Washington Mutual, Inc. He is responsible for talent acquisition, organizational capabilities, leadership development and rewards and benefits. David joined WaMu in 2000.
David has more than 27 years of human resources management experience, both nationally and internationally, with several diverse firms. Most recently, at Amazon.com, he was vice president of strategic growth and human resources. As a senior executive in that position he helped the company double its employee base, expand geographically and triple its sales.
Previously, David served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer; and as senior vice president of human resources and administration for MagneTek, Inc. He has also held several similar human resources positions with AlliedSignal, Inc., General Mills, Inc. and Weyerhaeuser Co.
David earned a bachelor's degree in business from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a member of the board of the Center for Effective Organizations and Communities in Schools of the State of Washington.

Debora D. Horvath Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer |

Debora D. Horvath is executive vice president and chief information officer (CIO) for Washington Mutual, Inc. Horvath oversees the company's enterprise-wide technology efforts.
Prior to joining WaMu, she served as senior vice president and CIO for Richmond, Virginia-based GE Insurance. There, she led a global information technology organization with a $500 million budget.
Horvath began her career with GE in 1979 and assumed her first GE CIO executive position in 1993 as vice president and CIO with Great Northern Annuity (GNA) in Seattle. She was promoted to senior vice president of that group in 1995. As a member of the GE Capital Information Management Council, she led the information technology due diligence for all acquisitions supporting GNA's acquisition growth from $6 billion to $40 billion in assets under management.
In 1997, she became senior vice president, CIO and chief technology officer for GE Financial Assurance and was senior vice president, CIO and eBusiness leader for the group from 2000-2002. During those five years, she served as a member of the GE Information Management Council and was recognized by GE with the CIO Award for Driving Competitive Advantage.
Horvath graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio, in 1984. She also attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School Executive Program in 1999 and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Stewart M. Landefeld is executive vice president and interim chief legal officer of Washington Mutual, Inc. while the company conducts a national search for a permanent chief legal officer.
Landefeld joined WaMu in late 2007, temporarily resigning his position as a partner in the Seattle office of Perkins Coie LLP and as chair of the National Business Practice Group, where he practiced since 1980. He brings more than 25 years’ experience in the areas of corporate governance and advice to boards of directors, mergers and acquisitions and securities law matters. He has co-authored numerous books and articles on governance and corporate law. Landefeld, who has asked not to be considered in the search for a permanent chief legal officer, expects to return to practicing law at Perkins after the conclusion of the search.
His civic activities have included service on the boards of The Seattle Foundation, the Henry Art Gallery, Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority, the Yale Development Board, The Seattle Symphony Foundation and other nonprofits.
Landefeld graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree. He earned his J.D. degree from The University of Chicago Law School.

David Schneider is president of Home Loans for Washington Mutual, Inc. He oversees all aspects of the company’s home loans business, with responsibility for the group’s overall business strategy and its production and servicing channels.
Prior to joining WaMu, Schneider served as president and chief operating officer of St. Louis, Missouri-based CitiMortgage, Inc., where he led the organic growth of the company and the successful integration of two acquired mortgage companies, First Nationwide and Principal Residential.
Prior to joining CitiMortgage in April 2001, Schneider served as executive vice president of retail banking for Old Kent Financial Corporation, a Michigan-based commercial bank holding company that was acquired by Fifth Third Bancorp in 2001. He joined Old Kent in June 1992 and served as chief financial officer of Old Kent Mortgage until 1997. He left the company for one year to serve as managing partner of Stratmor Group, a consulting and investment banking firm specializing in the mortgage banking industry, but later returned to Old Kent to head up its retail banking unit with responsibility for the company’s consumer deposits, consumer lending, business banking and leasing operations. He also oversaw the branch network and its direct banking unit, which included telephone banking, Internet banking, debit cards and ATM network.
Schneider is currently a member of the Consumer Mortgage Coalition and the Housing Policy Council’s executive committee.
He holds a BSBA in accounting from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and a Masters of Business Administration from Indiana University. He is also a licensed CPA.

Anthony F. Vuoto is president of WaMu Card Services, a leading provider of credit products to customers throughout the United States. He also serves on Washington Mutual’s Executive Committee.
Vuoto was named president of WaMu Card Services on February 12, 2007. He joined WaMu through the acquisition of Providian Financial in October 2005, and served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Providian since he joined that company in April 2002.
Vuoto’s career in financial services spans more than 25 years, with leadership roles with Bank One Corporation, where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of First USA Bank and President of Bank One’s Consumer Lending Division. He has also worked with CitiGroup as Chief Financial Officer of the company’s Europe/North America Card Group, Financial Institutions and Transaction Services Group, and Citicorp’s U.S. Bankcard Division.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and earned his MBA from the Wharton School of Business (Pennsylvania).
