In order to complete the process of setting up a new external account to your WaMu Direct account profile, you will need to verify that you are authorized to access that account.
Within 2 – 3 days after your request, Washington Mutual will make one or two small deposits (each totaling less than $1.00) with an equivalent withdrawal to that external account. The total of the transactions will add up to $0.00, so there is no loss or gain in your account balance.
To validate that you are authorized to do transactions on the external account, you must review your external account transaction history and locate the exact amount of each small deposit from Washington Mutual. You can do this by whatever means your other financial institution makes available to you (e.g. by phone or online). Return to Online Banking at wamu.com, and click Verify New External Account from our External Accounts page. Enter the amounts of the two small deposits.
We will activate your transfer functionality for the external account and you can schedule transfers between that account and your WaMu accounts.
